Anjali Khamar is a Nairobi-based fine artist who works with versatile mediums of expression including water colours, charcoal, chalk pastels, oils and acrylics on canvas.
Anjali’s art attempts to capture the awe that nature inspires, in a kaleidoscope of unexpected colour that aims to uplift, delight and leave a sense of joy and positivity in the beholder, in a stark departure from contemporary art on the continent that often showcases the bleakness of life.
Innately gifted, Anjali started painting when she was just three and made her first portrait when she was nine. Her precocious talent was recognised at an early age with one of her award-winning paintings selected for the Children’s Museum in Geneva when she was just fifteen. After an A level in Art she pursued Art at the Kent Institute of Art and Design in the UK before setting up her studio in Nairobi.
Over the years Anjali has been a part of several group shows including Friends Of The Arts, Burn The Ivory Art Show by Kuona Trust and several editions of the Afforable Art Show at Nairobi Museum. She has also undertaken several private commissions for corporate and individual collectors.
